Frequently Asked Questions

3 day lifeguarding course Northern NSW

Is First Aid Training Mandatory?

In certain workplaces first aid training and accreditation is an essential qualification. It is important that employees seek clarification around what level of accreditation they require from their employer prior to enrolling in a course. This also applies to volunteers, students on work placement and individuals seeking registration for accreditation with a peak body.

Individuals can still complete a First Aid or CPR course even if they don’t require it for work, as the skills they learn in the training can and do save lives.

What Does First Aid Training Include?

Our first aid training courses consist of a mixture of online learning modules and face-to-face training sessions that include presentations, discussion, first aid training videos and testing to ascertain participant knowledge.

Why Is First Aid Training So Important?

In a life threatening emergency where someone requires immediate assistance, having the skills and knowledge to provide emergency care practices can mean the difference between life and death.

Research indicates that clear communication techniques, high quality CPR and the effective use of an AED in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest is the only way to reverse the effects outside of a hospital.

Training in additional first aid techniques provides the candidate with confidence to perform a range of patient management skills when and if required.

Does My First Aid Certificate Expire?

Accreditation in the First Aid units are valid for 3 years. It is highly recommended and mandatory in some workplaces that you update your CPR annually as accreditation in the HLTAID009 Provide CPR unit is 12 months.

Can You Do First Aid Training Online?

SG Training candidates utilise the Royal Life Saving E-Learning program First Aid online as a reference guide and a learning and assessment tool. Most of the theory content within the First Aid course is included within the online program.

To complete the practical assessment tasks required of the accreditation, candidates then enrol in the First Aid training workshop.

What First Aid Training Do I Need?

Which first aid training you need really depends on your individual requirements. We have basic first aid courses like HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, which are perfect for anyone looking to learn some skills in first aid and CPR, but we also have special courses like HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting. As a guide we can provide:
